Online Map

This half-day trip starts of at La Bouverie in the morning. Driving towards Bagnols-en-Foret, you pass the pride of the Village, the AOC vinyard ‘Domaine de la Bouverie’. If you haven’t visited the vinyard shop already and tasted/purchased some of the excellent wines available from this estate, you may want to make an early pit-stop. Alternatively make a stop on the way back…

Driving further the road starts to climb and the mountains become wilder with the intense orange rocks in which this area is so famous for. Nearly at the top of the road there is a small parking lot at a viewpoint (Online map : “C”) where you can enjoy the magnificent views of both the La Bouverie village and the Rocher de Roquebrune mountains. There are many other places along the road where you also may be tempted to stop just in order to enjoy the nature and the special orange mountain formations.

Further along the road (Online Map: “D”) you will pass the starting points of many nice walks to the ‘Gorges de Blavet’. This walk contains a small walk to a waterfall, if you want a longer and more dramatic walk you may try one of the ‘Gorges du Blavet’ from this starting point.

When you get closer to the village you may want to stop along the road to take pictures of the village – Bagnols-En-Foret. This is a really nice spot for some good photograpic memories (Online Map: “E”).

Next stop, is the Wine Co-operative of Bagnols-En-Foret (Online Map: “E”), where they make local wine on site, and you can buy wine directly from the pumps at approx 1.3 Euro pr liter. PS: you need to bring minimum a 3 or 5 litre bottle… Read more about the wine-cooperatives in this page.

Now we are ready for our little walk to the small waterfall (Cascade-de-gourbachin). You park the car just alongside the road (Online Map: “F”). Read more and see pictures from this walk on this webpage – link.

After the walk it is probably time for a lunch (or early dinner)  at the ‘Le Bistrot’ cafe/resturant located in the Main Square of the Village Bagnols-en-Foret (Online Map: “G”. You can park your car down at the bottom of the village and walk up through the small streets to the main square and the resturant. Le Bistrot serves good ‘home made food’ with local, fresh ingredents at a resonable price. It has very good ratings at Tripadvisor, and come highly recommended. The resutant also has a really good ambience with a large outdoor seating where you can enjoy everyday life walking by in this quiet small provencial village.

After lunch it is recommended to talk a small walk around the village. It is not very big, but the streets are typical Provencal streets, with great atmosphere. Buy an ice-cream for the kids and soak in the atmosphere far a way from the hustle and bustle along the coastline of the French Riviera. It is also recommended to visit the Tourist Office (Online Map: “H”) and receive information about recommended activities in and around the village. Here is a web page with more details from the village Bagnols-En-Foret.
