Menton

Menton lies on the French-Italian border, on the edge of a bay between Monaco and the Italian Riviera. There is sunshine 331 days of the year plus a perfect microclimate and no mosquitoes. You have the Alpes Maritimes mountains behind you and the Mediterranean in front, plus inspiring Italian architecture and French cuisine.

In addition to the beautiful old town, and beach promenade, Menton is renowned for its gardens. Among the finest are Val Rahmeh, which was created in 1905 by Sir Percy Radcliffe and named after his beloved wife, and the Serre de la Madone. Also visit the Fontana Rosa garden, which belonged to the Spanish writer Vicente Blasco Ibanez and is a homage to his favourite writers, Cervantes, Dickens and Shakespeare. Another attraction is the baroque basilica of Saint Michel-Archange, with its fine bell-tower.
