Our boat trip with Taksea.fr in Frejus

We had a wonderful time with the 2.5 hour Taksea.fr boat trip from Frejus along the coastline of the Esterel mountains in August 2017. After we left the harbour we started of by visiting the magnificent Isle D’or:

And the boat is really superb and fast – we went from place to place in about 35 – 40 mph bouncing of the waves. The 11 year old had a really good time. The trip is allowed for children over 4 years old, but in windy weather I would have been a bit careful myself with bringing children below 7….

The esterel coastline is extremely picturesque, and the captain continously told stories both in French and English. We visited a number of small beaches and creeks, and received advise on how to get to the best hidden beaches by foot or car:

After a while we stopped at a place ideal for snorkling. We received snorkling gear and refreshments (rose wine for the adults of course – we are after all in France). For the next hour we snorkled amongst all the fish and had a wonderful time. This small beach called St Barthelemy beach provides ideal snorkling conditions both to the left and right of the beach. Highly recommended!

View from the Sky

The amazing Canyon  you see in this video is the Gorges de Blavet, and it only takes 30 minutes to WALK from the house into this breathtaking landscape. And you have a direct view of the big Roquebrune mountain from the house balcony. Please see the Activity – Walking section for how to walk to the top of the mountain. The medieval village of Roquebrune is a 10 minute drive away, and the coastline and beaches 20 minute away…

Our walk to Cap Roux

Easter 2017, the weather in La Bouverie was magnificent with 22 – 26 degrees celcius. Perfect temperature for walking in the mountains. One of the walks we really enjoy, is this one to Cap Roux in the Esterel mountains. It is a 45 – 60 minute  walk to the top, some more if you take time to enjoy the magnificent scenery. And you should!

The walk is well suited for children, it is upwards, but never steep. Our two boys aged 5 and 10 had no trouble at all.

Here is a link to a page where you can find the online map including the starting place where you park your car.

Even in the beginning of the walk you start fairly high up on the mountainside and the view is great:

When you are almost at the top, you can really enjoy spectacular views, it just gets better and better the higher up you go:

And finally at the very top of the Cap Roux where the mountain meets the ocean, you can enjoy views of the coastline from Cannes to St. Tropez. The contrast between the very red mountains and the deep blue ocean can really take your breath away…

Driving down from the mountain, we met this “little” one. Not to shy. We only had bacon crisps in the car….
