Description
The Vallon des Carmes (Carmes Valley) is located right outside the city centre of the small Barjols village to the east. Two waterfalls and water holes embellish the quiet river of Fauvery. As a tourist bonus to this hike you will see the caves and convent of the Carmelites. The chapel and troglodyte caves are dating back to the 17th century and they hosted a community of hermits until 1788.
This recently renovated natural site, accessible from the top of the village, is a series of waterfalls, fords and cascades rounded off with a big splash in a refreshing bathing area. A special place for the village’s children, young and old.
