The route
From the Cavaliers Trail, plunge into the depths of the gorge, in a unique and intimate atmosphere. The trail runs along the Verdon under lush and diverse vegetation. Discover the rocky chaos of Imbut, Styx and many other wonders.
From the parking area, go down on the road towards Aiguines for 100 meters.
1- Leave the road on the right and take the GR®99. Go down to the Estellié (note some passages are very slippery!).
2- Near the Verdon, continue to follow the GR99 on your left and join the Estellié footbridge. Be careful, swimming is prohibited and the Verdon can see its flow increase at any time!
3 – Do not cross the bridge and continue down the Verdon following the yellow markings. The trail winds along the water’s edge and then climbs up a staircase and a ladder. Pass by a beautiful balm and go down the stairs closer to the water. Walk along the Verdon and walk in a beech forest. Several bridges and barriers make walking easier. Be careful, however, to the void! The path dug into the rock overlooks the Verdon. Then rejoin the Verdon trail again dug into the rock winds against the cliff (cross at this place is dangerous, stay cautious!) Out in the forest by the path and climb to the start of the Vidal.
4- At the intersection, turn right. 15 minutes walk along the river. This one disappears under a rocky mass: here is the chaos of Imbut!
5- Join the bank, being attentive to variations in level of the Verdon. Then turn around and join the intersection at point 4. Warning: After the Imbut, access to Baou Beni (white markings on the ground on the rocks) is not secure (dangerous and not recommended!).
4- Back to the Cavaliers, make the loop up the Vidal trail, go straight to the intersection. Climb by the path that rises abruptly (handrails, area overlooking the river can impress!). Then meander through scree. come out on the road after an ultimate staircase.
6 – Circuit in loop: at the top of the Vidal, cross the road to join a starting course in the forest of pubescent oaks, at the level of a plate of evacuation of rainwater. Climb a pine forest and join the GR®99 on a forest trail. Attention: joining the parking by the road seems faster, but along the road is tedious and dangerous!
7- Turn left (direction the Cavaliers). After 500 m, the track branch out, follow the one on the left. 300 m further, continue on the GR®99 on the left leaving the track. Join the main road that must be along the right for 250 m to the starting point.
